Garland ISD supports 52,300 students with Newsela ELA

Garland ISD, a school district in Texas, needed engaging and accessible resources to support literacy skill practice and build background knowledge for its students in both English and Spanish. To address this challenge, they turned to Newsela and its Newsela ELA product.

The solution from Newsela involved mapping its content to the district's curriculum, allowing teachers to connect resources directly to their scope and sequence. This enabled students to practice writing in context using Newsela ELA's prompts and nonfiction texts, building analysis skills across ELA, science, and social studies classes.
