Canadian Mental Health Association boosts mental health mentions 10x with New/Mode

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA BC) faced the challenge of making mental health and addictions a top priority in the British Columbia provincial election after it was severely underrepresented in previous party platforms. They partnered with New/Mode and utilized its advocacy and civic engagement platform to launch the b4stage4 campaign, aiming to secure concrete government commitments.

Working with New/Mode and partner Vancity Studios, CMHA BC implemented an 18-month, full-spectrum engagement strategy. This involved using New/Mode's tools to grow a supporter base and facilitate actions like emails, calls, tweets, and letters to editors directed at candidates. The campaign resulted in a 10x increase in platform mentions of mental health and addictions, led to the commitment of 44 candidates, and directly contributed to the government's creation of a new Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions.
