A New/Mode Case Study
$10 a Day Child Care partnered with New/Mode to turn affordable child care into a top election issue after two decades of inaction. The campaign’s challenge was to make the $10 a day plan an irresistible centrepiece of the New Democratic Party’s platform and to activate a broad, sometimes disengaged base of supporters. New/Mode’s tools — One-Click Calling, Storm Social, One-Click Email and Letters to the Editor — were used alongside a NationBuilder CRM to target politicians, media and the public.
New/Mode deployed a targeted engagement program that mobilized volunteers and supporters to contact elected officials and news outlets; the campaign sent 5,000+ messages (including 2,100+ to local candidates), achieved a 50% conversion rate, and delivered 1,600 messages to the new government with 300+ thank-you letters after the budget. That sustained pressure helped secure a historic result: the incoming NDP government pledged $1 billion over three years toward the $10 a Day child care plan.
