Newlink worked with the Quito Tourism Board to help reposition Quito, Ecuador after the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2016. The challenge was to rebuild global awareness for a destination that was still underexposed, while promoting Quito to leisure travelers, the meetings and events market, and travel trade audiences across North America, South America, and Europe.

Using Newlink’s Destination Marketing Program and Orbital Strategy methodology, the agency ran a 20-month integrated campaign spanning nine countries, combining media relations, press trips, industry training, trade show support, newsletters, and cooperative campaigns. Newlink generated more than $12.7 million in media value, trained 470+ industry professionals, hosted 80+ journalist visits, secured 13 tour operator partnerships, and helped Quito earn major recognition including top destination rankings and World Travel Awards honors.
