VAR Services helped NewFound Energy investigate concerns at one UK manufacturing site where electricity usage and billing accuracy were in doubt, and where power factor correction was being considered. Using a Profile portable energy monitor and related survey software, VAR Services measured demand and power quality across two 1000 kVA transformers over seven days.

VAR Services found that both transformers were operating at a healthy power factor of 0.95 lag or better, showing that power factor correction was not a priority. The survey also confirmed the electricity bills were correct, exposed an incorrectly installed panel meter on TX-2, showed spare kVA capacity on both transformers, and identified a high out-of-hours base load of over 100 kW per transformer that the company is now investigating to reduce energy use.
