Tathra Beachside - Customer Case Study

Tathra Beachside is a former council-owned holiday park turned family-focused tourist attraction that has been a customer of NewBook International, Inc. since 2014, using its property management system, channel manager, direct booking engine, paperless check-in, automated upgrades/stay extensions, third-party integrations and two-way SMS. In March 2018 a fast-moving bushfire knocked out power and communications and forced owners to urgently plan and execute an evacuation of 215 guests and staff.

Using NewBook International, Inc.’s platform—especially its SMS feature—owners rapidly alerted guests with severe weather warnings, coordinated a calm, orderly evacuation, located and accounted for every guest (including pets) and ran a temporary off-site office to manage the crisis. The system enabled communication with all 215 guests, accelerated recovery (the park rebuilt and expanded), attracted praise from emergency specialists, was published in a tourism emergency survival paper and helped Tathra Beachside win the 2019 Tourism Innovator Award.
