University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill builds real-time energy dashboard with New Media Campaigns

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's energy department sought to improve campus-wide energy efficiency but needed a way to analyze and share the vast amount of real-time data collected from sensors installed across its buildings. To meet this challenge, they engaged New Media Campaigns to develop a public-facing web application.

New Media Campaigns designed a client-side application using HTML5, jQuery, and Backbone.js that pulls data from a remote API to create customizable, animated graphs for real-time and historical energy usage analysis. The solution also features a Google Maps-powered campus map color-coded by building energy usage. This application from New Media Campaigns gave the university a comprehensive and user-friendly tool to find areas for improvement and analyze the effectiveness of its energy efficiency efforts.
