Sentara Healthcare, a large regional system operating more than 100 care sites and employing about 19,000 people, was struggling with slow, manual software deployment and lacked centralized IT asset management, policy control and PC power management. With a planned move to a Microsoft infrastructure, the organization formed a committee to find a more efficient desktop and configuration management solution.

Sentara selected New Boundary Technologies’ Prism Suite (including Prism Deploy and Prism Asset Manager), plus Policy Commander and PwrSmart, to automate deployments, track assets, enforce policies and manage PC power. The tools enabled flawless rollouts of Epic eCare across 10,000+ devices, cut server update time from roughly 30 hours to 2 hours, reduced new PC setup from 3–4 hours to 30 minutes, eliminated the need for an extra FTE during EMR deployment, and delivered about $200,000 in annual power savings while improving compliance and budgeting.
