A Neurotechnology Case Study
The Spanish Ministry of Interior, facing high passenger volumes and stringent border security needs at Madrid and Barcelona airports, required a system to efficiently verify identification documents. The technology multinational Indra implemented a solution for them using multi-biometric recognition technology from Neurotechnology, including VeriFinger, VeriLook, and MegaMatcher.
Neurotechnology's products powered the kiosk-style access points, which perform a dual-biometric test using facial and fingerprint recognition to securely match travelers to their electronic documents. This allowed eligible European citizens to avoid entry queues, speeding up the passport control process while increasing security. The successful implementation by Indra, which began in 2010, was designed to benchmark the system for potential rollout to all international airports in Spain.
