SecureMantra’s AFPIS Helps Solve Criminal Cases in India

SecureMantra Technologies, a biometrics firm, needed a tool to help Indian police departments quickly and accurately identify latent fingerprints collected at crime scenes to aid criminal investigations. To address this challenge, they turned to vendor Neurotechnology and utilized their VeriFinger SDK fingerprint recognition engine.

The solution implemented by Neurotechnology's technology was the Criminal AFPIS Enterprise System. This system has enrolled over 1,000,000 criminal records across seven Indian states. The measurable results have been significant, with over 10,000 criminals identified and more than 500 crimes solved to date. In one state alone, the system led to solving fifteen cases within its first six months of operation.
