A Neurotechnology Case Study
The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela faced the challenge of upgrading its outdated and costly proprietary biometric voter registration system. They sought a more open, cost-effective solution that they could easily manage themselves and that could scale for future needs. To address this, they worked with their solution provider, Ex-Clé, to implement a new system based on biometric technology from the vendor Neurotechnology, specifically the MegaMatcher SDK and MegaMatcher Accelerator.
Neurotechnology's MegaMatcher solution provided the high-speed, accurate fingerprint matching required for voter enrollment and identity verification. The system, implemented by Ex-Clé, successfully enrolled 18 million voters and was used in the 2012 presidential election, which saw an 81% voter turnout. The CNE was able to publish official results minutes after polls closed. The project resulted in a fast, reliable and scalable system that ensured database integrity and electoral transparency for the country.
