Xerox’s PrePass is an intelligent transportation system that electronically pre‑screens transponder‑equipped commercial vehicles at weigh stations and other checkpoints, handling roughly 4.7 million transactions per month and about 90% of the nation’s electronic pre‑clearance traffic. Customer interactions were largely handled by phone and mail, creating high call volumes, manual data entry, week‑long account processing times, and limited visibility across CRM and financial systems—so Xerox needed to automate key processes, integrate back‑office systems, and contain costs while leveraging existing .NET resources.
Xerox deployed Neuron ESB on the Microsoft .NET platform and launched a self‑service PrePass.com portal that automates signups, payments, and integration with CRM and financial systems. As a result, 84% of web orders are now processed within 48 hours (down from 7–10 days), labor costs and manual processing were significantly reduced, customer satisfaction and processing capacity increased, and the solution preserved flexibility to scale and reuse legacy investments.
