A NetX Case Study

How doubling down on NetX breathed new life into digital assets at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, founded in 1958, manages a large, multi-departmental operation with decades of photos, programs, and video. When IT director Chad Sutton arrived, he inherited a six-year-old on-prem NetX DAM that had never been fully implemented: assets were untagged, hard to find, and staff spent more time running the system than using it, putting the company’s digital history at risk.

Alvin Ailey hired a DAM consultant with a library-science background to build an organization-wide taxonomy and metadata scheme, then reimplemented and upgraded NetX to a cloud configuration, integrated the taxonomy, and trained departmental content managers. The result is an intuitive Brand Portal and robust search, secure link sharing for external collaborators, lower maintenance costs, and a DAM that stakeholders now use and trust.
