A NetX Case Study
SFMOMA, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, needed a faster, less error-prone way to manage images and collections data after upgrading its Collections Management System to Qi by Keepthinking. Before the project, the imaging team uploaded photos to the NetX DAM, then staff manually downloaded, resized, and re-uploaded images into the CMS, with updates having to be pushed between systems. SFMOMA engaged NetX (and Qi/Keepthinking) to eliminate these duplicate workflows and improve asset/metadata coordination.
NetX worked with Keepthinking to build an API-driven integration so Qi can automatically pull proxy images and round-trip metadata with NetX, using NetX’s API and Data Source Sync where appropriate. The result, implemented by NetX, is an automated, single-source-of-truth setup (Qi for artwork metadata; NetX for image-specific data) that removes manual downloads/resizing, minimizes duplicate files, and significantly reduces staff time spent updating records—creating a much smoother workflow for SFMOMA and a repeatable integration for other museums.
