A NetX Case Study
Cornell University’s Division of University Communications — including its University Photography studio — faced a growing challenge: an expanding archive of tens of thousands of high‑resolution images (about 45,000 new photos a year and 25,000+ historical images) with no cost‑effective, centralized way to manage requests, serve the Cornell community, or reduce fulfillment overhead while promoting the university’s visual assets.
Cornell implemented NetXposure’s Digital Asset Management system with the EC Kit e‑commerce module to launch the Cornell University Image Library, a public, searchable site tied to an internal DAM. Users can browse by category or keyword, order digital or print files, and pay securely online while administrators manage orders and permissions in a back office. The project turned under‑utilized assets into a revenue stream, streamlined workflows and access, and earned Cornell a 2009 CASE Circle of Excellence Award.
