Case Study: Johnson County Government achieves 2-minute threat investigations with Netwrix Auditor

A Netwrix Case Study

Preview of the Johnson County Government Case Study

Johnson County in Kansas Needs Two Minutes, Instead of Two Hours, to Investigate Potential Threats

Johnson County, Kansas — which delivers services through more than 40 offices and supports a population with critical functions from tax collection to public safety — needed better control and visibility over its IT environment. With more than 3,000 users, the county’s IT team had to secure citizen data and ensure continuity of services by gaining tight control of Active Directory and Group Policy and by detecting abnormal activity before it could expose data or disrupt operations.

After evaluating several solutions, Johnson County implemented Netwrix Auditor for its ease of use and powerful, predefined reporting and search capabilities. The tool helped the team rebuild and clean Group Policy, identify and remove over 300 inactive accounts, and introduce daily user-activity summaries and alerts — cutting investigation time for suspicious events from about two hours to minutes and greatly reducing the risk of insider misuse and security incidents.
