Cheshire County Government Mitigates Ransomware Risk and Secures Data Regulated by HIPAA and CJIS

The County of Cheshire, New Hampshire, a local government organization responsible for protecting sensitive criminal justice, financial, Social Security, and health information, needed a better way to monitor regulated data and spot ransomware risk. Its five-person IT team could not manually review audit logs to meet HIPAA and CJIS requirements or quickly investigate file changes and other suspicious activity, so it turned to Netwrix and Netwrix Auditor.

Netwrix implemented Netwrix Auditor, including Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory and Windows File Servers, to automate security auditing and provide alerts on critical events and anomalous file activity. As a result, Cheshire County reduced routine file auditing by two hours per day, saving about one week of work each month, and cut investigations that once took days down to about 15 minutes, improving threat detection, troubleshooting, and overall ransomware resilience.
