Gazelec, Getting ready for PV with smart meters and analytics

Gazelec, a municipality DSO in Péronne, France, wanted to prepare its low-voltage grid for growing residential solar PV adoption and the shift from consumers to prosumers. To do this, it worked with Networked Energy Services, using NES smart meters and their OSGP-based communications as the data source for grid monitoring and analytics.

Networked Energy Services provided smart meters that exposed more than 25 grid and power quality parameters, while Odit-e’s AI analytics platform used that data to build a digital twin of the grid without requiring existing topology records. The result was a PV hosting capacity map and network analysis that helped Gazelec plan grid rebalancing and investment, with a practical plan to support up to 9,000 kW peak of PV in Péronne and a more reliable basis for future EV and load-management planning.
