Always Best Care Senior Services, a national leader in home care and assisted living with roughly 125 franchisees, needed a cost-effective, OPEX-based disaster recovery solution to ensure business continuity for its web portal without investing in a CAPEX datacenter build-out. Netsmartz, which had already designed and was maintaining ABC’s web portal, was engaged to deliver a resilient DR approach that leveraged Windows Server 2012 R2 and Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 technologies.

Netsmartz implemented Azure Site Recovery to automate VM replication and orchestrate failover (integrating Hyper-V Replica, System Center and SQL Server AlwaysOn), giving ABC customizable RPO/RTOs and automated recovery sequencing for multi-tier apps. The Netsmartz solution eliminated the expense and complexity of a dedicated DR datacenter, reduced manual restores and associated downtime, enabled safe DR testing without impacting production, and moved ABC to a more manageable OPEX model so IT staff could complete work during regular hours.
