Technology Innovation Hub Enables Safe Collaboration with Box and Netskope

MaRS Discovery District, a large urban innovation hub in Toronto that supports and scales startups in health, cleantech and ICT, standardized on Box for cloud storage and collaboration after finding employees using many different cloud apps. Because MaRS handles sensitive partner data—financials, pitch decks and patent filings—it needed to restrict access to confidential files and steer users away from unsanctioned storage tools.

Netskope provided visibility into cloud app usage plus real-time content discovery and cloud DLP, enabling layered policies that block or alert on sharing of confidential documents and prevent uploads to non-Box services. Combined with a user-coaching feature that redirects employees to Box, MaRS now enforces security policies, protects sensitive information in real time, and safely enables Box across the organization.
