NetMotion Mobility Slashes AT&T’s Expenses, Cuts Workforce Overtime by 50%

AT&T Mobility, one of the world’s largest telecommunications providers, faced chronic network connectivity problems that left tens of thousands of field engineers repeatedly losing VPN sessions, re‑authenticating, and calling the helpdesk—driving delays, rising overtime and poor customer service. To address this, AT&T Mobility evaluated and implemented NetMotion Mobility Mobile Performance Management software from NetMotion to stabilize mobile connections and improve field productivity.

NetMotion deployed Mobility initially in a pilot and then across nearly 40,000 Panasonic Toughbook‑equipped engineers, providing single sign‑on, seamless roaming, suspend‑and‑resume session persistence and data‑reducing compression for VoIP/video. The NetMotion solution let technicians complete roughly two extra jobs per day, cut worker overtime by about half (reported ~53%), reduced helpdesk, data plan and related costs by 43%, and substantially improved customer service speed and quality.
