A NetMotion Case Study
Frankfurt Airport, one of the world’s busiest hubs handling nearly 61 million passengers and the highest cargo traffic in Europe, faced brittle mobile connectivity for 600–700 ground workers using more than 1,000 rugged laptops. As staff crossed between Wi‑Fi and cellular networks, applications dropped and workers repeatedly had to reauthenticate, creating productivity losses and safety risks. To address this, Frankfurt Airport selected NetMotion and its Mobility Mobile Performance Management software.
NetMotion’s Mobility ran transparently on Panasonic Toughbooks and Toughpads, enabling seamless roaming between Wi‑Fi and mobile networks, prioritizing core applications, and scheduling large updates for Wi‑Fi only. The result: reliable, responsive applications, zero trouble tickets for connectivity-related crashes, steady 45‑minute aircraft turnarounds, reduced data overages, improved employee safety, and measurable boosts in productivity. NetMotion’s reporting also helped IT identify network issues and work more effectively with carriers.
