A Netlify Case Study
Stack Overflow, the well-known coding Q&A platform, needed to reduce technical debt while keeping its marketing sites fast and secure. Its monolithic setup meant even simple content updates could require engineering and SRE/DevOps time, creating bottlenecks for a small brand design team. To move faster, Stack Overflow chose Netlify alongside Sanity and Nuxt for a new, decoupled web architecture.
With Netlify, Stack Overflow launched stackoverflow.co as a separate Jamstack site, letting content creators publish and edit pages without touching the main application or consuming engineering cycles. Netlify also provided Deploy Previews, DNS integration, and Functions for dynamic features like lead forms and password-protected previews. The result was faster content delivery, less reliance on DevOps, and freed-up engineering resources for product work.
