How Harper Reed made the Jamstack work in government

Harper Reed, CTO of Obama for America in 2012, needed a way to build a fast, scalable fundraising platform with very limited resources and a small engineering team. Using Netlify’s Jamstack approach, the team set out to simplify their architecture while supporting critical campaign donation workflows.

Netlify helped Harper Reed’s team implement a static-first, JavaScript-based fundraising platform with an API layer and markup-driven pages, replacing a slower server-side setup. The result was a “night and day” improvement in speed and efficiency: the platform was fast to develop, iterate, and test, and it processed donations quickly and reliably without heavy server-side logic.
