A NetIQ Case Study
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, a global leader in public and global health with 3,500 students and over 1,000 staff, faced a time-consuming account-provisioning challenge: a small IT team manually created and updated accounts for 700–1,000 new graduate students each year across multiple modules and applications, while users struggled with multiple credentials and delayed access. This month-long, error-prone process strained resources and increased helpdesk demand.
By deploying NetIQ Identity Manager and NetIQ Access Manager the School automated account creation and deprovisioning from its central student records into LDAP and application systems (including Moodle for distance learners) and introduced single sign-on for staff and students. The result: near-instant provisioning, fewer errors, reduced manual administration and helpdesk calls, improved security, and a simpler, faster user experience.
