A NetIQ Case Study
SUNY Orange County Community College (SUNY Orange), the first county-sponsored community college in the SUNY system serving over 7,000 enrolled students, needed a way to adopt cloud applications and simplify access while handling complex role changes (e.g., students becoming instructors). Their manual, time-consuming provisioning processes caused delays of weeks each semester and required users to remember multiple logins, creating support overhead and a poor user experience.
SUNY Orange deployed NetIQ (now Micro Focus) Identity Manager and Access Manager with Consensus Consulting’s integration modules and a SOAP driver for Banner to automate real-time provisioning and enable single sign-on across Banner, Google Apps and ANGEL. The college now manages more than 30,000 identities, delivers encrypted credentials automatically, updates access as roles change, and has significantly reduced help desk calls, saved time and money, and improved student and faculty satisfaction.
