A NetIQ Case Study
Senckenberg Nature Research Society (SGN), a Frankfurt‑based biodiversity research organisation with about 700 staff, needed to break down geographic barriers between six institutes at eight German locations so scientists could form dynamic, cross‑site project teams and share information securely. With limited internal IT resources, SGN required a flexible, user‑driven portal that would support collaboration, external partners and easy access across mixed IT environments.
SGN chose VIBE with Access Manager, implemented by G+H on SUSE Linux, to deliver a central portal with shared workspaces, wikis, forums, file stores and a Liferay‑based HelpDesk plus single sign‑on. The result: researchers can rapidly create and adapt team spaces, involve global partners without compromising security, and access central services more easily while keeping IT overhead and administrative effort minimal.
