A NetIQ Case Study
The School District of Escambia County, one of Florida’s largest districts with 40,000 students and 4,500 staff across 60 sites and a tight IT budget, faced fragmented user identities and a small team managing 12,000 Windows workstations. IT staff had to manually update multiple systems and travel extensively to support endpoints, creating delays in account provisioning and driving up costs.
Working with Consensus Consulting, the district deployed Identity Manager, Storage Manager and ZENworks to consolidate about 45,000 user records into a single identity vault, synchronize accounts across HR, student information, helpdesk and learning systems, provision digital lockers, and centrally manage desktops. The changes cut user administration time by 75%, reduced the number of passwords users must remember by 75%, enabled same‑day account setup, and significantly lowered IT travel time and support costs.
