A NetIQ Case Study
Sanetronic, a Hong Kong–based distributor of RF/microwave and electronic components with about 70 staff across China, needed to ensure high availability for critical systems—email, databases, ERP/CRM, and web/FTP—to meet just-in-time customer demands. Fragmented backup tools and no reliable offsite disaster‑recovery option made recovery slow and complex (about eight hours to restore a server), putting the business at risk and overburdening a three‑person IT team.
After a successful proof of concept, Sanetronic deployed a PlateSpin Forge appliance to create virtual copies and incremental replication of production servers (supporting up to 25 workloads). Automated snapshots and frequent SQL/Exchange backups reduced tested recovery times to under one hour, eliminated most backup administration, provided a cost‑effective offsite DR path, and simplified future physical‑to‑virtual migrations to VMware.
