Nippon Light Metal (NLM), Japan’s only dedicated aluminum maker, needed a reliable business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) approach to protect more than 100 vital systems after tape backups proved unreliable. The company required a solution that could restore operations within a day but without the high cost, complexity, or wide-bandwidth demands of a fully redundant offsite standby or clustered-data approach.

NLM implemented PlateSpin Forge to image and back up virtual servers (starting with sales and accounting) to data centers in Yokohama and Akashi, using full then incremental backups.
