A NetIQ Case Study

Preview of the Ontario Telemedicine Network Case Study

NetIQ® solutions support IT innovation with significant productivity savings and full ROI

Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) is a not-for-profit that runs one of the world’s largest telemedicine networks in Ontario, serving 170,000 healthcare providers and onboarding about 1,300 new users per quarter. Faced with manual, hour‑long provisioning, strict privacy and compliance requirements, and the need to support both modern and legacy applications, OTN needed a real‑time, secure, scalable identity and access solution to simplify onboarding and protect patient data.

OTN implemented a federated identity workflow using NetIQ Identity Manager and Access Manager, integrating with eHealth Ontario to automate role‑based provisioning and provide single sign‑on across services. The solution reduced provisioning from over an hour to under a minute, enabled instant deprovisioning, delivered ROI within four years, supports more than 100,000 users, and ensured ongoing compliance and a seamless clinician experience.
