A NetIQ Case Study
Ludwig‑Maximilians‑Universität München’s Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences needed to provide 24/7, multi‑device access to online learning resources for roughly 20,000 users without exposing sensitive data or increasing IT costs. With rising expectations and limited budgets, the faculty required automated identity management and tighter control over user access rights to reduce administrative overhead and improve security.
Working with Code and Concept, IS4IT and the LRZ, the faculty deployed NetIQ Identity Manager (integrated with eDirectory, the university’s HR and admin systems, and the VERDE virtualization platform) to automate provisioning and map privileges to user identities. The implementation delivered seamless, secure access across faculties and external services, eliminated maintenance windows, reduced IT administration, enabled efficient monitoring of access rights, and maximized service availability.
