Lantmäteriet, Sweden’s national mapping authority, faced a fragmented IT landscape after organizational growth and mergers: more than 2,000 employees, about 20,000 external users, and 200+ applications with no central access control. This led to long onboarding times (up to 32 days), frequent password problems, poor visibility into user access and security gaps that hampered internal and external service.
Lantmäteriet implemented a suite of NetIQ solutions — Identity Manager, Access Manager, Sentinel, Change Guardian and Self Service Password Reset — with HR-driven, role-based provisioning and single sign-on. The result: basic system access from day one and full access within five days, 98.5% of identity issues resolved within two days, drastically improved security, reduced helpdesk and admin workload, and higher user satisfaction.
