A NetIQ Case Study
KMD, one of Denmark’s largest IT and software companies with about 3,200 employees, operates 400+ systems that support the Danish welfare state and handles transactions equivalent to over 20% of the country’s GDP. As custodian of personal data for nearly all Danes and subject to stringent EU data rules, KMD faced a growing identity-management challenge: provisioning access for ~4,500 users across 200+ systems (including SAP and mainframe) was manual, error-prone and slow, and access reviews were tedious and hard to audit.
KMD deployed NetIQ Identity Manager and Access Review to introduce a self-service portal, HR-linked deprovisioning and role-based provisioning, and to automate semi-annual access reviews. The result: provisioning times fell from days to hours, half of the identity-management team was redeployed, reporting and audit processes became transparent and efficient, managers found the tools intuitive, and KMD improved compliance and overall productivity.
