A NetIQ Case Study
Hanshan Normal University (HSNU), a 15,000‑student undergraduate university in Chaozhou, China, faced fragmented, department‑specific identity systems that led to inconsistent user profiles, manual provisioning and frequent access problems for students and staff. The lack of a centralized approach made it difficult to keep HR, payroll and other systems synchronized and drove high administrative overhead.
HSNU deployed NetIQ Identity Manager (integrated with its Oracle database on Cisco servers) over four months with partner GZSA to centralize role‑based provisioning and deliver single sign‑on. The new solution automated user setup, cut administrative workload and costs by 80%, reduced new‑account handling from six staff to one, improved user satisfaction and freed IT to focus on higher‑value work.
