Handelsbanken - Customer Case Study

Handelsbanken, a major Nordic bank with more than 10,500 employees, faced fragmented identity management across multiple systems—including legacy mainframes—and needed tighter control to meet financial regulations and demonstrate to auditors that only authorized users had access. The lack of a central user repository made it difficult to manage roles, provisioning and compliance across the organization.

Working with Pulsen, Handelsbanken deployed NetIQ Identity Manager to create a master repository and role-based organizational model, and added NetIQ Sentinel for real-time monitoring, alerts and auditable remediation workflows. The solution delivered centralized user accounts, full traceability for audits, a self-service portal for password and profile updates, and a significant reduction in IT workload—results the bank plans to extend across more of its IT environment.
