Gösgen Nuclear Power Plant - Customer Case Study

Gösgen Nuclear Power Plant in Switzerland generates 8,000 GWh annually and employs about 500 full‑time staff plus up to 2,000 external contractors and inspectors. As a high‑security nuclear facility, the plant needed a fast, reliable way to provision and deprovision credentials and to synchronize 370,000 equipment codes across multiple IT and entry systems to ensure only authorized personnel and consistent data access.

Working with NetIQ partner SKyPRO, Gösgen implemented NetIQ Identity Manager as a metadirectory to provide event‑driven synchronization across Active Directory, SharePoint, Exchange, ERP/HR, CAD, Oracle/SQL databases and the physical entry system. The solution centralized identity management, cut user‑management workload by an estimated 50%, reduced provisioning from hours to minutes, decreased password‑related helpdesk calls, and ensured consistent equipment data for safer, more efficient operations.
