A NetIQ Case Study
GaVI, a Mannheim-based IT service provider for the German public insurance sector, supports more than 22,500 users across 12 sites and was struggling with manual, paper-based user administration. Managing access to hundreds of client applications (some clients run 200+ apps) was time-consuming and hard to audit, and new regulatory requirements (MaRisk VA) increased the need for robust, auditable identity and access controls.
GaVI implemented NetIQ Identity Manager and Sentinel, integrating with clients’ HR systems (SAP HCM, PeopleSoft) and hundreds of applications to automate account provisioning, self-service password resets, and centralized logging and alerting. The solution cut provisioning times from days to minutes, enabled instant deactivation of compromised accounts, improved auditability and visibility into user activity (identifying inactive accounts and reducing license costs), and positioned GaVI to extend governance and privileged-access controls.
