Faaborg-Midtfyn Kommune - Customer Case Study

Faaborg-Midtfyn Kommune, one of Denmark’s largest municipalities with about 4,000 employees serving 50,000 residents, struggled to track and provision access as staff frequently changed roles. The IT team faced security risks from lingering permissions and time-consuming, last-minute provisioning because role changes and departures were not automatically communicated.

Working with PwC Denmark, the municipality deployed NetIQ Identity Manager and integrated it with HR, email, file servers, telephony and the national civil registry to enable event-driven, role-based provisioning and self-service access requests with manager approval. The solution automated deprovisioning, reduced helpdesk calls, improved budget and license visibility, and gave the organisation tighter control over who accesses systems—boosting efficiency without compromising security.
