A NetIQ Case Study
A leading European banking and insurance group spun off its insurance business and needed a new IT and identity-management infrastructure to simplify operations and tighten security. Facing strict Sarbanes-Oxley and PCI-DSS obligations, the insurer required complete control and auditable proof of who had access to which systems as part of the separation.
The insurer reused its existing Identity Manager platform to build a consolidated corporate directory service, a second directory for role-based provisioning with automated approval workflows, and a separate environment for privileged accounts, then added Access Governance Suite for policy-driven controls and analytics. The combined solution unified identity management, automated provisioning and de-provisioning, delivered “actual vs target” access reporting, fed owner-approved changes directly into the provisioning engine, and reduced risk while making compliance reporting far simpler.
