A NetIQ Case Study
East Bavian Technical University of Applied Sciences (OTH‑AW), which serves about 3,500 students across Amberg and Weiden, needed to modernize a custom user‑management system that required time‑consuming manual intervention. Ensuring students and staff have secure, consistent access to campus IT resources from both locations—and across an increasing number of systems and devices—was a key challenge.
OTH‑AW will replace its legacy solution with NetIQ Identity Manager, implemented with partner Maintainet AG, and integrate it with existing systems such as PRIMUSS, Blackboard, Moodle and eDirectory. The automated provisioning and deprovisioning will reduce IT workload, increase security by removing old accounts, provide seamless access across campuses, and be cost‑efficient through an existing Bavarian statewide license, with deployment planned for the new academic year.
