A NetIQ Case Study
Cobb County School District, Georgia’s second-largest district with over 107,000 students, faced a complex identity-management challenge: user data scattered across multiple applications and operating systems, slow manual provisioning that could take weeks or months, high help-desk load and costly temporary hires each school year. The district needed automated, cross-platform user administration to reduce costs and improve security.
The district implemented Micro Focus NetIQ Identity Manager and Storage Manager to synchronize identities across systems, provide single sign-on and password self-service, and automate provisioning and deprovisioning. As a result, provisioning time fell from more than two months to under 24 hours, manual user administration was eliminated (saving an estimated $150,000 annually), and nearly 400 help-desk hours per month were removed.
