A NetIQ Case Study
The City of Fort Worth, a large municipal government serving about 750,000 residents, faced a modernization challenge: after 30+ years on a mainframe, several “residual” applications needed to be moved as the city implemented a new distributed ERP to improve HR and financial systems and reduce IT costs. Rewriting the apps in-house risked long timelines, added cost and changes that could alienate users, so the IT Solutions team sought an alternative that preserved existing business rules and user experience.
The city engaged Micro Focus and a systems integrator to rehost the applications onto the Micro Focus distributed platform “as is,” maintaining continuity ahead of the ERP rollout. The move delivered faster development and debugging, quicker deployment of enhancements, upskilled staff familiarizing themselves with distributed environments, improved user interfaces and productivity, and lower ongoing IT costs—clearing the way for the next phase of ERP modernization.
