A NetIQ Case Study
The City of Carlsbad, a coastal government jurisdiction in Southern California, faced rising IT maintenance costs and inefficiencies across 22 networked sites and more than 1,000 PCs. IT staff were spending roughly 70% of their time on routine maintenance and manual user provisioning and password resets, limiting capacity for new projects and creating security and compliance concerns.
The city deployed ZENworks Configuration Management to centralize remote control, imaging, application distribution and asset tracking, and implemented Identity Manager to automate user provisioning, de-provisioning and password synchronization with Active Directory and LDAP applications. As a result Carlsbad cut desktop support costs, slashed provisioning and password-reset time, accelerated application rollouts from days to hours, strengthened security and compliance, and freed IT staff to focus on higher-value work.
