A NetIQ Case Study
Central Denmark Region, the Danish healthcare authority serving 1.2 million residents and employing 36,000 staff, faced a complex IT consolidation after regional reform. Having already deployed Identity Manager as a central identity platform, the region needed to speed up and secure user provisioning by delegating access control to local departments and automating routine tasks without increasing IT workload.
The IT team built a self-service web portal on Identity Manager that auto-creates logins from payroll data, provisions role-based basic access, and lets department managers assign application rights — including across multiple affiliations. Integrated with 30+ systems (email, electronic patient records and clinical apps), the solution handles roughly 2,100 activations, 1,600 deactivations and 12,000 password changes monthly (about 43,000 changes total), improving security through delegated control and certificate lifecycle management while eliminating manual processes and reducing errors.
