Archdiocese of Munich and Freising - Customer Case Study

The Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, which supports pastoral work across the region with about 8,000 employees and volunteers, needed a modern identity management approach to give staff and volunteers quick access to email, calendars and documents. Manual, paper-based provisioning was slow, error-prone and lacked transparency, making it difficult to manage many people with varying access rights across parishes.

Working with NetIQ partner IS4IT, the Archdiocese implemented NetIQ Identity Manager in its virtualized data center, connected it to HR, collaboration, VPN and other systems, and codified identity lifecycles. The result: automated provisioning and deprovisioning, faster account setup (from days to about 15 minutes), fewer errors, improved detection and closure of obsolete accounts, and a scalable platform for expanding to up to 15,000 users.
