A2A, a leading multi-utility in Lombardy, Italy, faced the challenge of managing authorization profiles for roughly 6,000 users across many nonintegrated applications while complying with national regulations and reducing operational risk. Manual, paper-based processes were time-consuming and could not reliably detect incorrect or suspect actions.

Working with Deloitte, A2A deployed NetIQ Identity Manager to standardize user rights, automate provisioning and real-time updates, and enforce segregation of duties across core (mostly SAP) applications. The implementation eliminated manual identity processes, enabled centralized access control and password synchronization, detects risky cross-role activity, and is being extended across the group.
