Facebook builds a data annotation platform for 2 billion unbanked users with NetGuru

NetGuru developed a Data Annotation Platform (DAP) for Facebook to address the challenge of prototyping machine learning applications. The process of data annotation, which is vital for training neural networks, is extremely time-consuming with large datasets. DAP was conceived to delegate this annotation work to users who could earn money for their tasks, thereby accelerating the development cycle for data scientists.

The solution implemented by NetGuru involved integrating Facebook's emerging Libra cryptocurrency into the platform to handle payments. As a minimum viable product, NetGuru built a separate micro-backend using Ruby on Rails and Node.js to interface with the Libra blockchain, enabling wallet creation and transactions. This R&D project successfully provided NetGuru with valuable, hands-on experience in working with cryptocurrency APIs, preparing them for future client demands in this emerging technological field.
