A NetDocuments Case Study
The Council of Europe, an organization promoting human rights and democracy across 47 member states, faced significant document management challenges. With over 6,000 users across 23 countries, their documents were stored across nine disparate repositories and local servers, leading to security risks, version control issues, and difficult remote access. To unify its operations, the CoE chose NetDocuments, a cloud-based document management system (DMS), as part of a digital transformation initiative.
NetDocuments, implemented with partner Tikit, provided a secure, cloud-native platform that integrated with existing email systems and enabled flexible, remote work. A phased migration moved 35-40 million documents, and the vendor facilitated a datacentre switch to Germany to meet the Council's requirements. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, NetDocuments was successfully rolled out to 1,400 users initially, with full deployment to all users planned by June 2021. The platform centralized document storage, enhanced security and compliance, and established a future-proof foundation for collaboration.
