Quid partnered with a leading pharmaceutical company that wanted to understand the mindset of patients with major depressive disorder and their perceptions and preferences across depression drug classes. The client’s challenge was to surface authentic patient concerns and sentiment from online conversations to inform product strategy and communications.
Using text‑analytics and network mapping, Quid analyzed more than 15,000 forum posts (representing ~7,500 patients) to extract the most central themes and sentiment-weighted topics. Key findings showed panic attacks and sleep issues as top concerns, SSRIs were discussed three times more than other classes (3,006 SSRI posts; Zoloft accounted for ~38% of SSRI mentions), and SNRIs (led by Effexor and Cymbalta) carried disproportionately negative sentiment—insights that revealed drivers and barriers to treatment and provided clear, actionable guidance for messaging and product planning.
